Welcome Summer!

Ahhh...it is finally here! Summer! It has taken its time. Spring was a bit of a tease. Here in the Eastern Sierra it was 80 and then snowing on a regular basis. So, we in the mountains are forever grateful for this wonderful weather!

It's time for Radio Flyers...

Beautiful walks (out our front door)...

And playing in the sprinkler.

We had to play in clothes because it was warm, but not that warm.

Now, however, it is warm. I mean straight up HOT! Luckily we have some awesome friends that gave us their kick ass swamp cooler. Thank God too since our house has no insulation and no cooling system!

Have I told you about our house? Ya...well...it is an old, OLD, miner's community home. It was built in the 40s/50s up in the canyon and then moved out of avalanche danger to its present spot. These houses are ghetto! Seriously! Every time the wind blows our house resembles the desert floor more than a home. Dust, bugs, and leaves somehow make their way in through the windows that are sealed shut with years of paint.
The kitchen makes me cringe,

the bathroom makes me squirm,

and the living room, well I can handle.

So, you ask, why do I live here?

Let me tell you! I live in paradise. I live at the base of the most glorious mountains. I live on the edge of wilderness. I can walk out my door and walk for days and days without seeing a soul. I love where I live. So, my house is ghetto,  I have to stage war with ants and stink bugs , and  I vacuum every day. It is all worth it! I love where I live. I will say it again, I LOVE WHERE I LIVE. Oh wait, did I mention the deer that join us on our walks? Or what about the numerous bald eagles I have seen? No, well....

Anyway, the heat is no match for our new swamp cooler, but it has changed our new favorite hang out. We love to go up the canyon to the river, but yesterday it was scary! I was going to take photos, but I was afraid to take my eyes off my baby for even a second. Due to the late spring and HEAVY snowfall, the rivers are insane! The snow just started to melt and it is going quickly with 100 degree weather in the valley. I haven't seen the rivers like this since 1997! It is amazing. Love it, but it makes me nervous. We will find a new play place for a little while. Until then...enjoy summer!
